Adirondack Flames Updates [2014-15]

Recommended Posts

So... You're not going to count the games where the #1 goalie was gone (Ortio) or Granlund for that matter.

If you're going to remove 3-5 of the BEST players on the team, the team is going to suffer.

Ortio was called up because Ramo was injured, and he got into plenty of games, so his recall was plenty justified. Granlund has played plenty in his recalls as well. You said that if Adirondack misses the playoffs it was because Calgary made unnecessary recalls and sat them on the bench, that is flat out untrue.

Matter of opinion, Ortio was up longer then was needed. The Flames have recalled countless prospects and sat them in favor of Bollig, Diaz, Seto, ect ect. And if you're going to play them do it for longer then 10 minutes.

Addy's top guns have been recalled repeatedly, and not utilized the way they should be. You can't argue that.

Top players missing from team = less wins = less points = out of playoffs

All I have to say is I'm thankful Ferland has seemed to recover from the concussion he got when he was recalled, then injured within the first game.

Adirondack Flames 3 (25-20-4-1) @ Oklahoma City Barons 1 (32-14-3-3)

1. ADK Ferland, (7) (Acolatse, Wotherspoon), 8:22 (PP)

1. OKC C. Hamilton, (11) (K. Jones), 11:24 (PP)

2. ADK Reinhart, (8) (Cundari), 3:46

3. ADK Hathaway, (11) (Elson, Shore), 19:43 (EN)

Now that's more like it Flames. :)
A well-deserved victory from the guys with Thiessen taking over the reins from the injured Joni Ortio.
I was hoping for a little retribution on Yakimov for bulldozing Ortio but the revenge was taken with a Barons defeat.

Thanks for the awesome in-situ game summary xstrike!
Another sparse week of hockey until next Friday when we meet our nemesis, the Utica Comets.
We will end the curse!

Barons TV with a pathetic game recap. They only show 1 goal; their own.
I am sure their fans would like to visually see how their team lost instead of the self-serving highlights & interviews with plenty of whining about why they lost.

I found piecemeal highlights from the same source as Friday night.

Quite humorous hearing the boos after Flames goals. No jerseys thrown though. True Oiler fans in training.

Yes, they should have been able to predict the future to see he was destined to have an off night in Anaheim.  They should have sent him down after winning 4 straight, 3 of which against teams we're fighting with.  Its a bad message why ride the hot hand at the NHL level when we can be a mediocre team at the AHL level, we need Calder Cup playoffs to hell with going for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

I know its easy to look at what happened in January and blame the organization for mishandling things, but the 1-5-1 start didn't help.  And of course 9 losses to Utica, can't blame not having Ortio for those as 7 of them were his.

We could say that for ANY goalie we have in Anaheims building. It's going to be a shame when April hits, and neither team is in play-offs.

Cool. A real-life Slapshot Hanson bro.

I get the idea of wanting to keep top players with Adirondack, but the big club comes first and with a lengthy 13 day road trip starting today, they need healthy bodies. That's where organizational depth becomes important. Every AHL team goes through the same things where their best players get recalled to play in the NHL, the teams with the best depth survive losing top players.

Adirondack is a very young team, they just don't have the veteran depth to handle losing top players as much as other teams.

There is good reason why they have "Farm Teams". They are there to supply the depth needed on a daily monthly or seasonally time frame.  Yes it is a shame that they are also a playoff race there too,  but.....

Which playoff race would you rather we concentrate on?? Calling up players to help contribute in this playoff race can't be all bad can it? Better coaches, tough competition..... See what they are made of and where they are in development.... all that good stuff...

No problem. I only wish I had more and better notes.

Considering they're not in the basement of the standings, they aren't so upset.

The Calgary Flames by all means! B)

In a perfect world both teams will power their way into the playoffs & instill fear into their 1st round opponents.

It's too bad Calgary couldn't visit Glens Falls between the NYI Friday match & the PHI Tuesday match.

They could open up the Morning Skates to the public & inspire the ADK players to step up their play going forward.

Just a far-fetched idea...

Almost a week between games sometimes seems like an eternity.

While the Flames were chilling, the teams surrounding them were losing & one was charging from below:

Texas OTL, Chicago L, Hamilton L, Lake Erie L, Toronto 2W

The Flames have games in hand on all these teams & can use them to slot into a playoff spot again.

After finally slaying the giant, the Flames should continue their strong play as they forge ahead toward a playoff spot.

Tonight's opponent, Toronto Marlies, have been charging up the standings and is hot on the heels of the Flames.

A win tonight coupled with a Chicago Wolves & Hamilton Bulldogs loss will place us into the final wild card spot.

After a strong comeback from a 2 goal deficit, a 3rd period collapse cost the Flames the game.

Nice to see Devin Setoguchi back in action & Taylor Vause back with the team.

Adirondack is still hanging tough in the wild card race in the Western Conference.

Next up on Wednesday evening is the Hamilton Bulldogs, a team the Flames are fighting for a wild card spot.

Well, he didn't play much in the first period. Did get a fighting major, though.

It's strange to see such a depleted lineup. They look very different from a few months ago.

Love.
