At least we got a point in what was a highly entertaining game. We will get them in June when there’s no shootout

Why there are so many of our boys trying to dek out their goalie? Monahan scored by shooting the puck. That was a good game to watch. Too bad we stopped playing in the second period.

What. A. Game!!!

Have to give lots of credit to Domingue.

Calgary's shooters didn't have enough speed when trying to Deke in the shootout.

The positive here is that we went toe to toe with the best team in the NHL and we matched them beat for beat. This Flames team is for real.

We have never been good in shootouts.

JH doesn't use the moves that gets him goals (5 hole or top corner).

Lindholm doesn't use the quick release.

Gio should have been there over Hanifin.

Neal was about the best no goal shot.

Tkachuk's go to hasn't worked in awhile.

We are an OT team not a stupid special skills competition.

That was a fun one, but always a drag to lose in a shootout. Anyway, onto the next one!

I was wondering, in the third period, after the tying goal, there were two offensive zone faceoffs - why not put Anders Rasmussen on the point? On the first draw, it was Giordano and Brodie, and the second draw saw Hanifin and Hamonic. I realize that the goalie wasn't pulled, but the opposition would have to respect that shot, and they were tired having twice iced the puck.

Love.

We could have had about 5 more goals with all the chances we had.

Toe to toe?

We dominated at times.

What an awesome game guys! One question...why would Coach Peters use stone hands Neal in the shootout? Bennett deserved a shot IMO

TBH, the only two guys that actually shot the puck were Neal and Monahan.

Neal has a better shot than Bennett, he just never gets to use it.

Bennett's luck around the net is close to zero.

Personally I would have used Gio over Hanifin.

But it doesn;t matter.

Shootout wins are just a single extra point, and you need the ROW's.

On another note, watched the end of the WPG game.

The exact same type of play with the empty net that Backlund got tripped on, they called a goal for WPG.

It's pretty obvious, so why they don;t always call it is beyond me.

Few choice decisions by BP last night.  A decent outing but should have been ours

Gotta clean that crap up.

We got scored on because of defensive breakdowns.

Too many grade A scoring chances.

Rittich was superb.  He saved our bacon on many occasions.

If this was a playoff OT games, it would have been a lot of what we saw in the 3rd.

Take the point and move on.  We still don't have any cheesy Bettman extra points (shootout), as all of our wins are ROW.

Was a great game, that OT was something else. Whoever thought up 3 on 3 OT probably had that in mind. Fantastic stuff.

Flames should have won this in regulation but they got cute with a 3-1 lead and chose to come out flat in the 2nd period. Good reminder that to be an elite team and even better to beat an elite team you can't let them back in the game. Flames got cocky and TB exploited it which is what good teams do. Outside of those 7-8 mins I thought the Flames were the better team and a better 60 min effort wins them this game.

So I don't take much solace in the whole "Flames proved they can hang with them" narrative. That should have been the expectation and letting an elite team off the hook like they did is the bigger lesson for me.
