Yeesh. The refs granted us a few power plays but we had ZERO motivation to capitalize. Man... I’ve played on teams where a power play was just a power play, and I’ve played on teams that got hyped when we got a power play. The flames look like the former.

I’d throw the lines in a blender. Personally I want to see Bennett on the top line with JH and Mony. He’d add some moxie too, and hey, if Chiasson can pot 20+ goals on line 1 in Edmonton, Bennett could work here on line 1 so we can make each line more dangerous:

JH - Mony - Bennett

Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm

Lucic - Ryan - Mangiapane

Frolik - Janko - Reider/Czarnik

or - if Lindholm will play Center, maybe....

JH - Mony - Bennett

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane

Janko - Backlund - Frolik

Lucic - Ryan - Reider/Czarnik

They played a better game but a bad bounce got the other team started. I didn’t see the best chances but held the play.

I liked what what I saw from Bennett as a C. I kinda think we should just keep him there. He looks like a C.

The third line did look small and got knocked off the puck a bit.

I hope they get playing as a team again.

I like your second lineup change over the first one.

I would like to see more movement on both units. The Avs PP looked deadly because they were always in motion.

100% agree. Ours is stationary and stagnant. Gotta be moving to pull defenders out of position to create opportunity.

What is strange to me is this. We have a roster that has played damn near 100 games together, yet look like it was just assembled. The top 6 look average, the bottom 6 still garbage.  Where did Ryan go? Janko has been invisible, Czranuik is a  career inbetweener, Mags has not shown me anything.   Looch is Looch,  If our bottom 3 are going to be smaller skilled players such as Mags, Ryan and Reider the results are going to be loses.  Kylington even with his blemishes is 100% better than Stone as a option. I do agree that there needs to be a better balance however we are short 1 top 6 guy still. Regardless of how you shuffle these cards we have a hole in the top 6.

While your observations are somewhat accurate, your conclusions are off a bit.

Backlund has had more than enough chances to have potted 5 goals,

Monahan has been in position to score at least 5.

Mangiapane, when he plays with decent players, is getting scoring chances.

The problem is that the supporting players have been terrible.

Janko and Ryan have done nothng.

Lucic can dig the puck out, but isn;t getting passes to anyone.  The players are always in traffic.

Bennett is making dumb decisions.

The biggest hole we have is 3rd line.

They are doing nothing positive in games.

You need to find the right fit for Lucic.

Bennett is playing the game way too slow.

He doesn;t help Backlund and I don;t know that putting him on the top line does anything positive.

Maybe playing him at C with Mangiapane and Ryan would help.

Then your 4th line is Lucic-Janko-Rieder.

Could not be any worse.

This statement can applied to most players. The man crush some have for this player, I do not. Not to just single him out, he has done nothing to separate himself from the group, actually none of them have when given the chance. Backs love Backs he is not a finisheer though. Bennett looked good last night but than drops the ball when put in place further up the line up. Now Chucky with Monahan and JG doesn't work, JG- Lindholm- Chucky may. Chucky needs a defensive center, Backs and Lindholm fill that. I will remove my previous content that Bennett at center is not good, however I did like his game last night better than others. To play with speed is essential in today's game, however the smaller framed players will struggle.  There is no panic mode yet however if histroy proves to be an indicator there are some HUGE warning signs right now.

Bennett was okay at center, but finishing below 50% is not positive.

Then again, Backlund and Ryan also did as bad.

It may be the only use for him though, considering the roster.

I can;t remember the last time I saw Bennett skate full speed.

Nor can I remember much where he has seperated himself from any other player to actually be able to shoot.

Mangiapane was singled out by the coach as playing well enough to play on Backlund's line.

I see NHL potential there, maybe not playing against the toughest opponents at this point.

Chucky with Monahan and JH doesn;t work becuase we have only seen it on the PP.

Not exactly a good example.

Where he suffers playing with them is on the rush.

More to the point, it's the bottom 6 that is causing most of the problems so far.

Bennett, Janko and Ryan have been shells.

2 other players were not here before.

The other is Mangiapane.

My problem is that BP only tries combinations for a period. He doesn’t even give it a few times to get used to each other’s tendencies. And I was saying in preseason that that was the time to try things. Now he has very little leeway as a few games can turn into a losing streak and can’t afford to drop too many games or you’re still reeling.

i think trying Lindholm elsewhere is the way to go but it will probably make or brakebtge season. It did last year.

No question that the first line is awesome! But the rest of the team is suffering because of it. There aren’t any trades to be made to fix the middle. Frolik works about 50% of the time (offensively), but about 70% defensively on the 2nd line. Is it consistent enough?

It can be a little difficult to get the matchups you want on the road.

You put out the top line, you will only get a top line or top defensive line.

On the other hand, if you put out your 3rd ot 4th line, they will see the best players.

So far, it seems that out 3rd and 4th lines are incapable of matching other team's best.

Coincidentally, two games where we managed to score three and get points were at home.

The other was in Dallas, where Rittich stood on his head.

The 3rd and 4th lines are more the reason for loses than anything else.

Combine that with the need to get Stone into two games and the lack of any PP2 unit that can do anything.

Build on the 6 D-men that can actually play and figure out the bottom 6.

Try something different with the PP2.
