I've got no real issues with the lines; they get shuffled if the Flames get down.

Where I have the issue is the D pairs.

Most nights Stone is a hindrance more than his shot or biggness is a help.

Brodie can only do so much.

I agree, Stone should not be in the lineup. sure nice goal the other night but he was also beat cold on a Wild goal. If you are so determined to be "heavy" then send Stone down and call up Davidson who actually looked decent.

I still can't get behind this 13-23-11 line either. They are just getting shelled defensively and I don't understand at all why Ward is so attached to them. They've been brutal.

That's right...   Last game the lines started out the same as yesterdays practice...   035f33c3bdd457d9680f18874fb385e3.png

and halfway through the game, Wardo changed the lines to...   1e94d7aae4bfc6f7e127ed480d0ae76b.png

There are definitely limitations for putting together combos that work well together...   Getting Valimaki back in the lineup could help, but that's not going to happen until the end of February or maybe even into March at the soonest...   The other option hinges on Treliving being able to pull off a trade that improves the D without creating a new hole elsewhere...

Should mean no Stone, which is good.

Talbot is the right choice to start

Flames main page just gave this update...   Nothing concrete for lines either, just much the same as Steinberg's tweet...    So as you pointed out, it's likely Stone is a scratch, and I'll guess either Janko or Reider will sit out as well...

^^^^^^

If Janko is sitting, then Bennett needs to play C.

Rieder is not very good on the dot.

The other option is to sit Bennett.

We have Rinaldo to run roughshod over players.

I don’t like the idea of having only one or two guys that do that. It’s pointless. I feel like if you’re going to hit, come in waves instead of leaving it to every other line or every 4th shift.

i get what you’re saying, as you might be thinking that both Rinaldo and Bennett have both been typically unskilled this year.

I wish Benny would grow up. I wonder if his lazy penalties are a result of being young? You don’t see Dube doing that though.

I would try switching Dube a to Lindholm or Monahan’s line.

I would go:

Gaudreau, Monahan, Dube

Tkachuk, Lindholm, Mangiapane

Lucic, Ryan, Backlund

Rinaldo, Bennett, Reider

Ryan and Backs can switch as needed, and Rinaldo and Reider too. I feel like the two I have in the Top6 RW seem to have earned those spots over anyone else.

Debrincat should have been sent to the box for that trip on Backlund...   That one looked pretty obvious...

Loooong night ahead.

The fans in the Madhouse call all penalties.

Hawks announcers wondering why CGY passed up shooting twice to pass in traffic.

A bit homer, but not like Oiler broadcasts.

Another lapse at the end of a period, I’m always terrified in the last minute with these guys.

3 & 4 th lines looking decent.  Shillington awake and fast.

Brodie and Gio?

I thought they were going with Gio-Ras.

That was plan A for when Stone was still in, so no Stone meant Ras was back with Kylington...

Sure.

Brodie isn;t allowed to play with Kylington unless it's jumbled due to special teams.

Nice giveaway by Brodie earlier in the game (after the PK) where Kylington made a huge play to save his bacon.

Talbot has looked great.

Won't get a shutout now, though.

Some excellent hooking by the Hawks.

At least we came out of the 1st down by just 1,
