Soft play by Monahan on Draisaitl and then terrible defensive coverage leads to Edmonton goal. Need Monahan to be better.

Talbot looking a little shaky to start.

Looks like the refs are rusty too.

Well I guess its better to get the reminder of the helmet coming off penalty now then against the Jets.

This team has a terrible tendency to wait and see how our opponent is going to play against us. Rarely do we take our game to our opponent to start a game. This is a familiar showing for this group.

I am glad we’re playing Edmonton. It’s a nothing game that’ll at least mean a little something to this group. There’s a chance we’ll show we have a pulse at some point.

Pretty rusty top line so far.

Dune and Mangiapane standing out.

Tkachuk doing Tkachuk things.

After one check, Draisaitl decided to use a low bridge check afterwards.

Dirty play that went uncalled.

Time to get back into this with a PP goal.

If the Oiler get up 3, then the game will turn into a slamfest.

The good:

really sharp PP. both units were dialed in

Good looking breakouts.

bad:

Talbot looks off

intensity not there. It’s exhibition yes but I think you’d like more urgency and life than your seeing right now.

The good: shooting mentality on the PP. so much better than the merry-go-round passing with zero movement.

The bad: 5-on-5. Zero pressure by the flames. Oilers controlled the period except for when they were short handed

The ugly: James Neal 😂. If I’m chicago, I’m targeting him. He’ll do some stupid retaliation Satoshi Nakamoto all the time.

I would say they are trying to be physical and show intensity on the forecheck, but the intensity on the backcheck and the defensive zone and overall attention to detail is missing.

The Good: Bennet's beard game is on point.

The Bad: He has taken another lazy penalty in the offensive zone.

Its stuff like that keeps him from gaining the trust of his coaches and keeps him from moving up the lineup.

Good defending on the PK, but they just couldn't get enough of it to clear.

The Janko rush was a WTF moment.

It was a much better start to the 2nd but that PK sure sucked
